Mark Stephen

Mark Stephen, a beloved brother, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 28th, 2023, at the age of 71. Tragically, he suffered a cardiac arrest following surgery. Mark’s family is deeply saddened by this loss.

After completing high school, Mark embarked on various career paths. He owned and operated a convenience store and also worked for the New Brunswick Liquor Commission. In 1988, he found his passion in residential and commercial painting contracting, which he pursued until 2005. Later, Mark worked as a Security Guard at the Saint John Airport with the Corps of Commissionaires. He was an active member of the Canadian Lebanon Association.

During his retirement, Mark rekindled his lifelong love for playing the drums. He embraced his free time, enjoying nature, taking walks at Taylor Lake, and cherishing the company of his cat, “Cuddles.”

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Angeline (Saab) Stephen. He is survived by his three siblings: Marsha (Stephen) Zed and her husband Thomas Zed, Karl Paul Stephen, and Kevin John Stephen and his wife Daphne (Churchill) Stephen. Additionally, he leaves behind his nieces, Nadia Zed-O’Sullivan, Lucia, and Brooke Stephen, as well as his nephews Thomas Jordan Zed. Mark’s grandnieces, Maya and Ciara Zed-O’Sullivan, and his younger brother/cousin, Terry Moses, also mourn his passing. He will be greatly missed by numerous cousins in the extended families.

The family expresses their sincere gratitude to the compassionate and dedicated staff of 3CN and 3BS who provided excellent care for Mark. Condolences can be sent to Chipman Funeral Home at http://www.chipmanfuneralhome@nb.aibn.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Spring, followed by interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations to the Heart and Cancer Foundations in Mark’s memory. Mark’s departure from this life was untimely, leaving a profound void in the hearts of his loved ones.
