Marlene Joan Steacy, a beloved resident of Brockville, passed away on October 16, 2023, at the age of 100, in the comfort of the Brockville General Hospital. Born and raised in Brockville, Marlene led a fulfilling life dedicated to serving her community. At the age of 55, she joined the Lansdowne Fire Ladies Auxiliary, where she made lasting connections and contributed significantly to the organization.
Marlene will always be remembered as a loving and devoted mother to her three children, Kenneth, Thomas, and Percy. She cherished her role as a grandmother and took immense pride in her grandchildren, Justin, Jamie, Ashley, Heather, Sam, and Lu-Ann. Marlene was blessed with a large and supportive family, including her cherished siblings, Karen Wheeler, Margaret Graczol, and Garry Prue. She also had numerous adoring great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Throughout her life, Marlene formed a deep bond with the extended family of Kathie and the late Andy Graham, who welcomed her into their lives for 30 years. She developed close relationships not only with them but also with their daughter Katherine and their beloved pets. Marlene’s strong connections to her family brought her immeasurable joy and comfort.
Marlene is preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth R. Steacy, as well as her parents, Percy and Jennie Prue, her sister Gwen Turner, and her niece JoAnn Davison. To honor Marlene’s memory, a Graveside service will be held on October 28, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Union Cemetery in Lansdowne. Additionally, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Mallorytown Legion on November 4, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the BDHF Palliative Care.
