Mary Beatrice “Bea” Harper

Mary Beatrice “Bea” Harper, of McNair Manor, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on October 3, 2023 at the age of 83. Born in PEI to Patrick and Margaret McLellan, Bea moved to Moncton at a young age. She started living with the Harper family and eventually married their son Walter Jr. Together, they relocated to Schefferville, Quebec and later settled in River Glade, where they raised their children. After her husband’s passing in 2006, Bea returned to Moncton and resided in Church Court and later in McNair Manor as her needs increased.

Throughout her life, Bea’s sense of humor and kind nature endeared her to many. She valued spending time with loved ones and making new friends. The house in River Glade was not only a home for her children but also a place where their friends felt welcome and often gathered to share in various activities and precious moments.

Bea is survived by her children, Daniel (Beverly) Harper and Debra (Joseph) Smith, her grandsons Jesse and Logan Smith, her sister Charlotte Lewis, her brothers Johnny, Patrick, David, and Mark McLellan, as well as several extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, parents-in-law, sister Carol, and brother Charles.

Funeral arrangements will be handled by Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will take place at the gardens on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 6-8pm, followed by the funeral service on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 11am. In honor of Bea’s love for animals and commitment to animal welfare, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her name to PAWS Moncton. The family would also like to express their gratitude to the residents and staff of McNair Manor, who embraced Bea and provided her with care and love as part of their own family.
