Mary SMITH

Mary Elizabeth Iris Smith, age 92, peacefully passed away on October 31, 2023 at McGarrell Place Long Term Care in London, Ontario. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 70 years, Donald Russell Smith, who passed away on December 7, 2017. Mary is survived by her children Linda Glassford, Richard Smith, Donna Smith, Patricia Postma, and Kathy Stallaert. She was cherished as a grandmother by her grandchildren Brad, Kim, Bob, Jim, Jennifer, Mark, Leah, Jill, Alex, Melissa, Adam, and David. Mary was also a beloved great-grandmother to Ronan, Kieran, Kalani, Saoirse, Carly, Bryce, Kayla, Izzy, Caiden, Evie, Hannah, Hazel, Maverick, Gwen, Eva, Dylan, Ben, June, and Atlas. Additionally, she will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, her sister-in-law Mary Kotanko, and close cousin Joan Acres. Mary Iris was born in June and named after the beautiful Iris flowers that her father John bred. Her kind, generous, and faithful personality shone through in everything she did for her family and friends.

Since late 2017, Mary has received exceptional care and companionship from the staff at McGarrell and her White Wings companion. Family and friends were invited to pay their respects at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home in Wallaceburg on November 4, 2023. Visitation began at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Mary was laid to rest alongside her husband Don at Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to CKHA – Sydenham Campus or Grace Christian Church are greatly appreciated.
