Mary WOODS
Mary Lorraine Woods, a cherished symbol of love, resilience, and elegance, passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on November 3, 2023. Born on February 2, 1946, in Godfrey, Ontario to Joseph Michael Hickey and Mary Evelyn Hickey (Murphy), her life was a testament to compassion and strength.
On September 2, 1983, she joined in matrimony with her beloved late husband, Wilfred Edward Woods. Left to honor her memory are her sons Brian (Tammy) Ashurst and Kevin (Anna) Ashurst, along with grandchildren Brian, Josh, Bradley, Tyler, Angel, and Sheldon, and great-grandchildren Drayden, Mariah, Elliot, and Evelyn. Her brother Joseph (Keitha) Hickey of Godfrey and sister Joyce (late Carmen) Teal of Sydenham also fondly remember her.
She is survived by her loving sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as her brother, sister, nieces, and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her siblings Alfred, Wilfred, Charlotte, Joan, and Grace. The impact of her kindness and love will forever remain alive in the hearts of those she touched.
A visitation will be held Thursday, November 9, 2023, from 4 – 7 at Trousdale Funeral Home in Sydenham (4374 Sydenham Mill). The funeral service will take place on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St Patrick’s Church in Railton (3977 Sydenham Rd.), followed by burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Godfrey (2911 Westport Rd.) where Father Sebastian Amato will lead the ceremony. The family kindly requests that donations in Mary’s memory be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. She will be truly missed, but her spirit will forever live on in our thoughts and prayers.
