Michael Erickson
With deep sadness, the family of Michael Erickson shares the news of his passing at Saint John Regional Hospital on October 28th. Michael, lovingly known as Mike, was born on December 24th, 1955, making him an almost Christmas baby. Originally from Yorkshire, England, he was the cherished husband of Caroline Erickson for an incredible 47 years. Mike was the proud father of Robert, Jeremy, and Melodie, and a doting Grampy to Eva, Hadyn, Vaughn, and Isabel. He will be dearly missed by his sister Barbara, brother Paul, sister-in-law Judy, and his nieces and nephews, Kaleb, Garrett, and Etta.
Mike possessed numerous talents that garnered him an extensive circle of lifelong friends in the local drag-racing community. Known as the “Mr. Fix-it Man,” he readily offered his assistance and expertise to everyone who needed it. His children benefited greatly from his skills, as he acted as their personal mechanic, repairman, plumber, electrician, and advisor. Furthermore, Mike had been an active member of the Saint John Y’s Men’s Club, dedicating the past five years to serving as their cook and blackjack dealer during fundraising casinos. He delighted in finding great deals on meat for a traditional Sunday roast beef dinner, complemented by Yorkshire Puddings and homegrown vegetables.
Above all, Mike took immense pride in being a devoted father. From attending baseball games and music classes during their younger years to celebrating their achievements in adulthood, he consistently showed unwavering support for his children’s interests. He enthusiastically shared their accomplishments with anyone who would listen. Additionally, Mike and Caroline enjoyed a vibrant life together, creating countless memories and friendships during their winters in Florida.
Arrangements for Mike’s farewell are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home on Westmorland Road in Saint John. Per his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Instead, a private celebration of his extraordinary life will take place at a later date.
