Pat MURPHY

Pat Murphy, a well-known and respected farmer and businessman, passed away on October 15, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia. He was 62 years old. Born in Sarnia, Pat was the son of the late Melvin and Norita Murphy. He was the beloved husband of Marianne Murphy and the loving father of Steven Murphy and Lauren Harper. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Hank, Coulter, Waylon, Ryan, and Claire. Pat was a cherished brother and brother-in-law to Alan Murphy, Elizabeth Demers, Becky Smalls, Bradlee Murphy, Mark Bogaart, and Steven Bogaart. He was also a son-in-law to Doreen Bogaart. Pat leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were Melvin’s second wife Mary and brothers-in-law Jim Rohde and Robert Bogaart. Pat’s Funeral Mass took place on October 20, 2023, at Sacred Heart Church in Port Lambton, following his viewing at Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home. Interment followed at Black Creek Cemetery in Sombra. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia, Bluewater Health Foundation, or Sacred Heart Food Bank.

Pat’s family extends beyond blood, as he also had several nieces and nephews whom he adored. Melvin’s second wife, Mary, and two brothers-in-law, Jim Rohde and Robert Bogaart, have preceded him in death. Pat’s unwavering dedication to his farming and business endeavors earned him the esteemed title of the 2023 Lambton County Farmer of the Year. Additionally, he actively participated in church activities to serve his faith. Friends and family gathered at Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home to pay their respects to Pat before he was laid to rest at Black Creek Cemetery in Sombra on October 20, 2023. The late John Bogaart, his son-in-law, held a special place in his heart, as did Doreen Bogaart, his mother-in-law. Pat’s larger family included numerous nieces and nephews who brought him endless happiness. While grieving his loss, it is important to honor the memory of those who have passed before him, including his late father’s second wife, Mary, and his brothers-in-law, Jim Rohde and Robert Bogaart. In addition to being an accomplished farmer and successful businessman, Pat dedicated his time to various agricultural committees, earning him the prestigious title of the 2023 Lambton County Farmer of the Year. His faith played an essential role in his life, and he actively participated in his church community. Pat’s Funeral Mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Port Lambton on October 20, 2023, after his viewing at Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home.
