Peter Conquergood

Charles Peter Conquergood, aged 80, passed away in Toronto on July 27, 2023. He is survived by his three children, Anne, David, and Jon, along with their families. He is also mourned by his siblings Alan and Elisabeth, and their respective families. Lastly, his partner Dr. Barbara Landau and her family also grieve his loss.

Peter married Lynda Conquergood (nee Brooks) in May 1965 and obtained a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Toronto in 1966. For over 25 years, he served as the Head of Rotating Machinery at Shell Canada, residing in various locations such as Burlington, Sarnia, Toronto, Calgary, and England.

Renowned for his passion for building and flying scale model planes, Peter achieved notable success in competitions. He secured third place at the US Scale Masters Championship and fourth place at the prestigious Top Gun invitational tournament. Additionally, he held the presidency of both the Calgary and the Kawartha Lakes flying clubs for numerous years. In 2022, Peter received a distinguished lifetime achievement award from the Model Aircraft Association of Canada. In 2012, he obtained his Private Pilot license and derived immense pleasure from flying a Cessna 172 in the Peterborough area.

For the past 28 years, Peter resided in Bobcaygeon, actively participating in various community endeavors and organizations. Engaging in activities such as sailing, bridge, ping pong, and the writers group, he remained actively involved in the community. Notably, Peter, alongside Barbara, embarked on setting up a new business to provide support for families undergoing separation.
