Ray Parker

Ray Willard Parker, age 90, passed away on August 8, 2023, at Hospice House Fredericton. He is survived by his son, Darwin (Vicki), daughter-in-law, Susan, grandchildren, Jamie (Beth) and Jason (Jackie), great-grandchildren, Nick and Noah, sister, Joyce (Bill) Charters, sister-in-law, Kaye, as well as several nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his son, Doug, wife, Bertha “Toots”, and brothers, Huntley and Purdy (Joyce).

Ray had a fulfilling 40-year career with CN Rail, which allowed him to travel to various places like Bantalor and Blue Bell. Ultimately, he settled in Moncton, where he retired in 1991. Following retirement, Ray developed a passion for woodworking. He spent countless hours in his workshop, enjoying coffee and sharing stories with friends. While some days may have passed by without a nail being driven, his family and friends cherish the furniture he created as a reminder of him.

A Graveside Service will be held at St. Thomas United Church Cemetery in Doaktown on August 17, 2023, at 11 am. As per Ray’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Subsequently, a lunch will be served at the Salmon Museum. The family has entrusted the arrangements to York Funeral Home’s Miramichi Valley Chapel.

The family appreciates the exceptional care provided by the staff at Hospice House Fredericton. Ray received the best and most compassionate care during his time there. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice House Fredericton are welcomed. Personal condolences may be offered through the York Funeral Home website at http://www.yorkfh.com.
