Richard John Sauvé&nbsp(Rick)

It is with profound sadness that the family of Richard Sauvé announces his peaceful passing on January 28, 2024 at Regina Gardens Long-term Care in Hamilton ON, where he resided.

Richard (Rick) John Sauvé was born May 18, 1941 in Sudbury, son of Grace Sauvé (née Lamoureux) and Léo Sauvé. He is pre-deceased by his brother`s Norman Sauvé (Millie) and Maurice (Moe) Sauvé as well as his beloved wife, Lucille Sauvé (née Boucher).

Richard will be immensely missed by his children, Grant (Colleen), Léanne Scornaienchi (Frank) and John ( Steve). His grandchildren, Talisha (Hugo), Anthony (Rachel), Brawne, Dane, Bréanne, Brock (Kendra), Reid and Gage, and his two great-granddaughters, Ila and Alaya.

Richard, whose passion was teaching, was a very well-respected high school teacher for 41 years, during which time he taught at Sudbury Secondary High School and Ecole Secondaire MacDonald-Cartier between 1962 and 1983. He then moved from Sudbury to Stoney Creek where he taught at Ecole Secondaire George P. Vanier from 1983 until he retired in 2003.

Richard was a kind, gentle man, who’s love for life, laughter and gathering with people, made him an absolute pleasure to be around. Music being his second passion led Richard to become an amazing guitarist and singer, and he took great pleasure in breaking out in song to entertain family, friends and even students in class. Being a excellent athlete in his younger years, Richard developed a love for sports, especially hockey and baseball. His fervor for books and literature was instrumental in developing his linguistic skills. At one time in his teaching career, Richard was fluent in English, French and Latin. Richard leaves behind a lifetime of wonderful memories and teachings for us to cherish. For this, we are truly grateful.

Visitation for Richard will be held on Thursday, Feb 1, 2024 at Donald V. Brown Funeral, 36 Lake Ave. in Stoney Creek, ON. from 1pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm. Funeral mass will be held Friday, Feb 02, 2024 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Hwy 8 in Stoney Creek, ON. at 10:30am.
