Richard Olafur Thorarinson

Richard Ólafur Thorarinson was born on July 14, 1949, in Riverton, Manitoba, to Larus and Marion Thorarinson. He was the fourth of six brothers, including Larus, Eugene, Verne, John, and Douglas. In 1962, the Thorarinson family moved to Calgary, Alberta, where Richard became actively involved in Riverton Construction Ltd., taking on roles as an estimator and a heavy equipment operator. His work showcased his exceptional skills and dedication.

Throughout his life, Richard found strength and guidance through his unwavering faith in God. He was a longstanding member of the Calgary Central Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he held onto a hopeful and devoted belief in the second coming of Christ. Richard’s passing peacefully took place at Rockyview Hospital in Calgary, Alberta, near sunset on October 20, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Larus and Marion Thorarinson.

Richard will forever be cherished and remembered by his loving brothers, as well as his niece, Steina Thorarinson, nephew Joel Thorarinson, and sister-in-law Debbie Thorarinson. Their memories will serve as a testament to the impact Richard had on their lives. A memorial service has been scheduled for 2 pm on November 12th at the Calgary Central Seventh-day Adventist Church, located at 1920 13 Ave. NW, Calgary, Alberta.
