May 11, 1939

July 31, 2023

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard (Dick) Squires on July 31, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lillian, as well as his three sons and six cherished grandchildren: Wayne (Gina), Cole, and Megan; Scott (Dana), Joe, and Baily; Jason (Cindy), Karlee, and Kaitlyn. He is also survived by his sister Judy (Pat) Sheeham, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Banff, Alberta, in the late 1930s, Richard’s life was filled with adventure as a Project Manager and the owner of various personal businesses. With an impressive career that took him across Europe, the Middle East, South America, and North America, Richard worked on a wide range of projects, from nuclear power plants to sewage systems. Throughout his lifetime, he actively participated in several service clubs, finding great joy in his involvement with the Millet and District Lion’s Club in Millet, Alberta.

Richard expressed heartfelt gratitude to all his friends for their well wishes, as well as the compassionate care provided by the dedicated nurses and doctors at the Leduc and Drayton Valley hospitals. In honor of his memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Millet and District Lion’s Club or the Canadian Cancer Society, in lieu of flowers.

As per Richard’s wishes, there will be no formal service held. However, a memorial gathering will be organized at a later date by the Millet and District Lion’s Club to celebrate his life and legacy.
