Rita LAFLECHE

Rita Laflèche, born in 1926, passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on October 25, 2023, while surrounded by her family at the Glen Stor Dun Lodge. She was married to the late Richard Laflèche and together they raised five children named Dollard “Del” (Mariette), Mario (Céline), Jacques (Lucie), Donald (Louise), and Brigitte Corriveau (Fernand). Rita was a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother to many. She is survived by her brother Bernard Laflèche (Noëlla) of St. Albert, as well as various other relatives and friends. Rita’s loving parents, Theodule and Aurore (née Benoit) Laflèche, preceded her in death, along with her granddaughter Angèle Laflèche and numerous siblings. Rita took great pride in being a member of the Fille d’Isabelle and enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, and working at the Cornwall General Hospital, where she was employed for many years. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the caring and supportive staff at Glen Stor Dun Lodge. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to M. John Sullivan Funeral Home, and visitation will be held there on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at Saint-Felix-de-Valois Catholic Church, located at 620 Glengarry Boulevard, Cornwall. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Alzheimer Society of Cornwall and Region.

With immense sadness, we share the news of Rita Laflèche’s passing at the age of 97 on October 25, 2023. Rita peacefully departed this world at the Glen Stor Dun Lodge, surrounded by her family. She was a devoted wife to the late Richard Laflèche and a proud mother to Dollard “Del” (Mariette), Mario (Céline), Jacques (Lucie), Donald (Louise), and Brigitte Corriveau (Fernand). In addition, Rita had the joy of being a beloved grandmother and great-grandmother to many. Her brother Bernard Laflèche (Noëlla) of St. Albert, along with other extended family members, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends, will forever cherish her memory. Rita’s parents, Theodule and Aurore (née Benoit) Laflèche, preceded her in death, along with her granddaughter Angèle Laflèche and a multitude of siblings.

Rita was deeply committed to the Fille d’Isabelle, took delight in family gatherings, and possessed a passion for playing cards. She also dedicated a significant portion of her life to working at the Cornwall General Hospital. The caring and supportive team at Glen Stor Dun Lodge provided exceptional care to Rita, and the family sincerely expresses their gratitude towards them. M. John Sullivan Funeral Home will oversee funeral arrangements, including visitation at their location on Saturday, November 4, 2023, between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Following the visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11 a.m. the same day at Saint-Felix-de-Valois Catholic Church on 620 Glengarry Boulevard, Cornwall. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to be made to the Alzheimer Society of Cornwall and Region.
