Robert IRELAND

Robert “Bob” Harry Ireland, aged 95, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2023, at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital. He had been a resident of Tillsonburg Retirement Residence and was formerly from Port Burwell. Bob was born on March 25, 1928, in Woodstock to Harry and Mae Ireland. He proudly served as a World War Two Veteran and was a valued member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 524 in Port Burwell. For several years, Bob dedicated his time as the Store Manager of the L.C.B.O in Port Burwell. Sadly, he was predeceased by his wives Kathleen Gertrude Ireland (2017) and Beula Alberta Ireland (1985). Bob is survived by his son John Ireland and lovingly remembered by his caregivers Fred Brown (2021), Leslie Martin, Julie Smida, and Gillian Brown. Additionally, he is survived by his stepchildren John Sutherland, Joe Sutherland, Wendy Sutherland, Allan Sutherland, and Brenda Knight, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Tillsonburg Retirement Residence and the staff of TDMH 2N & 1S for their exceptional care and support during Bob’s final days.

Honoring Bob’s wishes, cremation has already taken place. A private graveside service to commemorate his life will be held at a later date in Tillsonburg Cemetery’s Columbarium 7. Friends, relatives, and former neighbors are invited to share cherished memories, photographs, offer personal condolences, or make memorial donations to the Royal Canadian Legion’s “Poppy Fund” through the Maurice J. Overall, Bob Ireland will be remembered not only for his lifelong contributions and service but also for the warm and lasting impact he had on the lives of those around him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
