Ronald George Kendall passed away unexpectedly on July 22, 2023, at the Peterborough Regional Health Center, with his beloved wife, Doreen, by his side. He was a cherished husband and best friend to Doreen (Bates) Kendall. Ron will be deeply missed by his nephews Stephan (Shelly) Kendall of Sudbury, Billy (Jen) Vaughan and Brian (Cat) Vaughan of Montreal, as well as his sister-in-law, Carol Hosie. Additionally, Ron held a special place in the hearts of his great-nephews and nieces, including Ashley (Andrew) Crawford, Marc (Erin) Kendall, and Ryan, Ryley, and Braden Vaughan. He was affectionately known as Uncle Ronnie to his great-great-nephews Jackson and Jamieson Kendall and niece Poppy Crawford. Ron was born in Montreal on August 20, 1949, and spent his childhood there. It was in 1972 that he met Doreen, and they tied the knot in 1974. They later settled in Belleville in 1981, where Ron worked for CN Rail. During his time in Belleville, Ron owned D&R Water and managed two gas stations. Later, he became a transport truck driver before semi-retiring in 2003. Even up until the week of his passing, Ron proudly worked at Black Bear Ridge Golf and Resort, a place he loved as much as his second passion, golf. When he wasn’t on the golf course, Ron could often be found playing or watching the game. He even started a side business in his garage, regripping and rebuilding golf clubs. Ron and Doreen became “Snowbirds,” spending their winters in Florida, where Ron continued to golf and remained an active member of the production crew at Four Lakes Golf Club Retirement Community. Last winter, Ron was recognized as Volunteer of the Year for his contributions as a member of the Certified Emergency Response Team (CERT). His loss is deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him. Doreen and the family express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nurses and doctors in the ICU Department at Peterborough Regional Health Center. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Steele’s Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel. A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at Black Bear Ridge Golf and Resort on Sunday, August 6, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
