Ross ANDERSON

Ross Anderson, 87, of Mitchell, peacefully passed away at Stratford General Hospital on Monday, October 30, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Jean Anderson and the dear father of Robert Anderson (Rosemary), Murray Anderson (Kim), Brenda Salton (Gerry), Mary Baes (Paul), Steve Anderson (Barbie), and Ann Anderson (Jamie). Ross was also a loving grandfather to 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was the dear brother of Shirley Rose and the brother-in-law of Laurinda, Marlene, and Marion Anderson. Ross is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents, Francis and Evelyn Anderson, brothers Francis Anderson (Jeanne), Dr. Alvin J. Anderson, Laverne Anderson, Brian Anderson, sister Olive in childhood, and brother-in-law Leonard Rose, Ross farmed in Logan Township and enjoyed softball, playing cards, square dancing, and round dancing. He was also known for singing in church choirs and often participated in the Mitchell Fall Fair Parade driving one of his antique classic cars.

Friends and family gathered at the Lockhart Funeral Home in Mitchell to pay their respects on Thursday, November 2. The funeral service was held the following day at the funeral home, with interment at Woodland Cemetery in Mitchell. A reception followed at the Lockhart Reception Centre. The family requested that memorial donations be made to the Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of one’s choice in lieu of flowers. They also expressed their gratitude to the staff of Stratford General Hospital for their excellent care.

In his spare time, Ross farmed in Logan Township and enjoyed participating in various leisure activities, such as softball, playing cards, square dancing, and round dancing. He was also involved in local community events, such as singing in church choirs and driving his antique classic cars in the Mitchell Fall Fair Parade. Family and friends came together at the Lockhart Funeral Home in Mitchell to honor Ross’s memory. The funeral service took place on Friday, followed by interment at Woodland Cemetery and a reception at the Lockhart Reception Centre.
