We are saddened to report the passing of Ruth, who passed away at the age of 88 after a brief illness. Ruth was born on the family farm southeast of Thorsby to Manuel and Alma Forster. She was the third oldest of 10 siblings. In January 1957, Ruth moved to Edmonton and started her job at Eaton’s in May 1958. It was there that she met Fred Dieno, and the two tied the knot in April 1960.

Ruth is survived by her beloved husband, Fred; her children, Robert (Nicki), Douglas, Sharon (Rob), and Shirley (Ken); nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is also survived by her three sisters, Tillie (Gordon), Gladys (Don), and Loreen (Louie), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Throughout the early years of her life, Ruth and Fred enjoyed various adventures, including traveling, camping, and fishing. Ruth possessed a multitude of talents, such as knitting, crocheting, needlework, and painting. Above all, she adored gardening and generously shared the fruits of her labor with loved ones.

In memory of Ruth, it is kindly requested that donations be made to a charity of personal choice. A memorial service to celebrate Ruth’s life will take place on Thursday, September 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home, located at 16204 Fort Road, Edmonton. Following the service, Ruth will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
