Scott John Heuvelmans, age 55, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at the Chatham-Kent Hospice, with his beloved wife Nicole by his side. He was the cherished husband and best friend of Nicole Heuvelmans (nee Ternoey) and the loving father of Anastasia (Noah) Leschyna and Joshua Heuvelmans (Megan Arsenault). Scott was also a proud Opa to Ellianna Leschyna. He was the eldest son of Ann (VanUden) and the late Theo Heuvelmans (May, 2023), and the devoted son-in-law of Jack and Anna (DeJonghe) Ternoey. Scott was a successful business owner, running Heuvelmans Chev in Chatham. In addition to his work, he had a passion for woodworking and spent countless hours creating beautiful pieces. He was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed backcountry camping and hunting, often accompanied by his loved ones. Scott’s love for nature was inherited from his father and he passed on this appreciation to his children. As a family, they planted over 7,000 trees and established a two-acre wetland and prairie habitat on their properties through various environmental organizations.

Known for his gentle and kind nature, Scott enjoyed quoting movies and singing lines from his favorite songs. He will be remembered for his warm heart and loving spirit. The family would like to express their gratitude to their supportive family and friends, as well as Scott’s medical team, PSW care partners, Bayshore nurses, therapists, LHIN staff, and the compassionate staff at Chatham-Kent Hospice.
