Shirley Ann Kopp

We are deeply saddened to share the unfortunate news of the passing of Shirley Ann Kopp after a courageous battle with cancer. Shirley was recently preceded in death by her beloved friend Sharon Bunnin from Sherwood Park AB, and her parents Henry and Dorothy Kopp from Turtle Lake SK. She is survived by her Uncle Clarence and Marilyn Bekolay from Edmonton AB, as well as her Aunt Patricia Bekolay from St. Albert AB.

In addition, Shirley leaves behind her brothers and sister: Gordon (Karen) Kopp from Turtle Lake SK, Calvin Kopp from Holbein SK, Marilyn Kopp and her friend Ken from Viking AB, and Curtis Kopp from Turtle Lake SK. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and their families. Shirley will always be remembered as a kind, honest, loving, and generous person. Her presence made a positive impact on the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Shirley had a deep passion for nature and photography. She was often found with her paint brushes, skillfully capturing images on canvas. Shirley’s creative talents extended to writing, illustrating, and publishing her own book titled “Jenny Wren, The Special Thank You.” She was also a dedicated bone marrow donor and volunteered at CanSurmount, honoring the memory of her mother.

It is worth mentioning that Shirley received her education from Livelong Elementary School and Turtleford High. She had an immense love for sports and outdoor activities, excelling as an arborist, painter, curler, swimmer, and golfer. Shirley was an enthusiastic supporter of the Edmonton Oilers and cherished all animals and birds. Above all, she valued her relationships with friends and family.

A Celebration of Life in memory of Shirley will take place on September 23, 2023, at 10 am, at the Glen Allen Recreation Complex in Sherwood Park. Donations in her honor can be made to Capital Care Strathcona (Harvest House Recreation Fund) located at #2 Bower Dr, Baseline Rd, Sherwood Park T8H 1V4.
