Shirley C. Tumilson (nee Featherstone)

Shirley peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 8th, 2023. She was a beloved wife to the late David and daughter to the late Albert and Caroline. Shirley was also a loved sister to Mel (the late Rita), the late Gerry (Beverley), and the late Bruce (Lynette). She will be fondly remembered by Dave’s daughter, Elizabeth Hollett, and her husband Ron. Shirley held a special place in the hearts of many as she was a cherished aunt and great aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. She was especially adored by Judy and Herve Backs and their children, Carrie Cregan (Chris) and Stefan Backs (Patti), as well as Debbie Featherstone and Terry Richardson and her son Matt Brock. Shirley’s best friend Peggy Murray was always by her side, and she had also formed meaningful friendships at the Court at Barrhaven, particularly with Olga.

A visitation will be held in Shirley’s honor at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, located at 2500 Baseline Road, on Sunday, July 16th, from 3:00 PM. The service will be conducted in the chapel at 5:00 PM, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa.

On Saturday, July 8th, 2023, Shirley peacefully passed away. She was the loving wife of the late David and the daughter of the late Albert and Caroline. Shirley will always hold a special place in the hearts of her family, including her surviving brother Mel and the late Gerry and Bruce. Elizabeth Hollett, Dave’s daughter, had a deep affection for Shirley. Shirley was also widely recognized as a caring and cherished aunt and great aunt. Judy and Herve Backs and their children, Carrie Cregan (Chris) and Stefan Backs (Patti), along with Debbie Featherstone and Terry Richardson and her son Matt Brock, were especially close to Shirley. Shirley’s friendships were also incredibly significant to her, including her best friend Peggy Murray and her newfound companions at the Court at Barrhaven, particularly Olga.

The family will be holding a visitation to honor Shirley’s life at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, which can be found on 2500 Baseline Road. The visitation will take place on Sunday, July 16th, starting from 3:00 PM. The chapel service will commence promptly at 5:00 PM, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa.

Shirley, a beloved soul, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 8th, 2023. Her life was intertwined with that of her late husband David, whom she adored. Shirley’s parents, Albert and Caroline, also preceded her in death, but their memories lived on through their daughter. Shirley was a sister to Mel, who still cherishes her memory, and she was also survived by the late Gerry and Bruce. Throughout her life, Shirley played an instrumental role as a loving aunt and great aunt; a role that was embraced wholeheartedly by many. Judy and Herve Backs and their children, Carrie Cregan (Chris) and Stefan Backs (Patti), along with Debbie Featherstone and Terry Richardson and her son Matt Brock, have countless cherished memories and hold Shirley dear in their hearts. Peggy Murray, Shirley’s best friend, always brought joy to her life, while her time at the Court at Barrhaven allowed her to build treasured friendships, including a special bond with Olga.

To celebrate Shirley’s life, a visitation will take place at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre on Sunday, July 16th, 2023. The visitation will commence at 3:00 PM and will be followed by a chapel service at 5:00 PM, with a reception to follow. In memory of Shirley, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa.
