Shirley Hazel Dieterle, formerly known as Shirley Benson, passed away on October 1, 2023, in Three Hills, Alberta, at the age of 83.

Born on March 7, 1940, in Vulcan, Alberta, Shirley was the eldest of four children born to Leonard and Hazel (Peggy) Benson. Upon retiring, Shirley resided in Linden before eventually settling at the Golden Hills Lodge in Three Hills. She formed many cherished friendships during her time at the lodge. In her later years, Shirley found great comfort in reading the word of God and studying the scriptures alongside her dear friend, Wes Davidson.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Beverly, sister-in-law Shirley, and her sons Robin and Ricki. She is survived by her brothers Don and Harold (Mary), her sons Roger (Jill), Rocky (Deb), and Rodney (Brenda), as well as 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A service and gathering to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held on October 20 at 1:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion in Vulcan, Alberta.
