Shirley MacPhee

Shirley Ruth MacPhee (nee Edwards), 89, passed away on November 5, 2023. Shirley was born on July 28, 1934, in Kapuskasing, Ontario, and spent most of her youth in Chapleau, Ontario. She was the daughter of Regina and Harold Edwards and came from a large family of 9, with 6 brothers and 2 sisters. Shirley outlived 4 of her brothers and 1 sister, and is survived by her remaining siblings: Walter, Clarence, and Virtue.

Throughout her life, Shirley experienced profound grief with the loss of her son Dennis Kyllonen and her grandson Ryan Malewicz. Despite these losses, she adored her daughter Carol Malewicz and cherished her twin granddaughters Kendal and Morgan, as well as her great-grandchildren Roslyn and Clark. Shirley found joy in her extended family and close friends, her husband Jack, and activities such as riding her bicycle and enjoying country music.

Shirley was a strong, spirited, and loving woman who deeply cared for her family and friends. She spent her final years at Huron Lodge and was thankful for the care she received from the Sycamore Wing Staff. Cremation has taken place, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society. A memorial visiting will take place at Families First on Sunday, November 12, 2023.
