Shirley THRASHER

Shirley Ann THRASHER, aged 84, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at the Richmond Retirement Residence. She was the loving daughter of the late Raymond and Margaret Howe. Shirley was married to Douglas Thrasher of Belleville for 66 years. Together they were blessed with five children: Chris (Paula), Randy, Jeff, Steve Thrasher (Karen), and Heather (Roger) Chapman. Shirley was not only a devoted wife and mother but also a cherished grandmother. She leaves behind twelve grandchildren: Julie (Cole), Brandon, Ann-Marie, Erica (Sawyer), Lora, Stephanie (Cordell), Christina, Brittany (Phil), Kaylea (Eric), Victoria (Cody), and Bradley (Hayden), as well as seven great-grandchildren: Taeler, Bradley, Morgan, Adalynn, Camden, Leni, and Poppi. Shirley’s memory will be cherished by her siblings, Barbara (Douglas) Kingsman, Beverley (Douglas) Townsend, Bonnie (Ted) Smith, Linda (Wayne) Trice, George Howe, Gordie Howe, and Pam (Michael) Lukie, and her brother-in-law John Emerson. Preceding her in death were her son, Richard Thrasher, granddaughter, Jessica Thrasher, sister, Carolyn Emerson, and brother-in-law, Jack Insley. Shirley’s warm presence will forever be remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, on Thursday, July 27, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the College Hill United Church, located at 16 North Park Street, Belleville. Devoted sister to Barbara (Douglas) Kingsman, Beverley (Douglas) Townsend, Bonnie (Ted) Smith, Linda (Wayne) Trice, George Howe, Gordie Howe, and Pam (Michael) Lukie, Shirley also found joy in the company of her many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Sadly, Shirley experienced the loss of her son, Richard Thrasher, granddaughter, Jessica Thrasher, sister, Carolyn Emerson, and brother-in-law, Jack Insley. Visitation for Shirley will be held at the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, on Thursday, July 27, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow on Friday, July 28, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the College Hill United Church, located at 16 North Park Street, Belleville.
