Steve Kitch

July 18, 2023

With deep sadness and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Steve Kitch on July 18, 2023. Born in Toronto, Ontario on April 15, 1957, Steve was the beloved son of Dorothy and Bill (predeceased), the brother of Tracy (Ian), and a doting uncle to Emma, Aidan, Benjamin, and Jacob.

At the age of 20, Steve made the move to Edmonton, Alberta, a place he would call home for over four decades. During his professional career, Steve showcased his market knowledge and built strong customer relationships as one of the early sales employees at McIlveen Lumber. Later on, he took on a significant responsibility in the Alberta market as part of the retail team at Gillfor. However, Steve’s deepest passions truly shone through in his commitment to his community. His love for sports was only surpassed by his unwavering devotion to his friends and family. Whether it was on the curling rink, baseball diamond, golf course, local pub, or exploring the open road on his Harley, Steve treasured every moment. As an ardent fan of CFL football, he dedicated numerous volunteer hours with the Spirit of Edmonton to proudly represent and promote the city to the rest of Canada.

To honor Steve’s life, a celebration will take place on Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 2:00-6:00, at On The Rocks, located on 11740 Jasper Ave, Edmonton, AB T5K 0N3. In remembrance of Steve, those inclined to make a donation are kindly asked to support KidSport Edmonton, a cause close to his heart that aims to enable all kids to participate in sports.

In this time of grieving, we remember Steve as a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many. His spirit, dedication, and warm heart will forever be cherished and missed. May he rest in eternal peace.
