Stewart Gordon “Gord” Barrington, a beloved father to both Scott and Samantha, passed away on July 16, 2023, at the age of 71 in Calgary, AB. Born in Arvida, QB in 1952 to Stewart and Sheena Barrington, Gord relocated to Calgary, AB in 1976 after completing his Engineering degree at Queens University. Throughout his life, Gord achieved numerous accomplishments and took great pride in his volunteer work at the Stampede, as well as his role as a scuba diving instructor at Lake Minnewanka. An avid enthusiast of skiing, camping, country music, and traveling, Gord embarked on countless memorable trips abroad. He will always be remembered for his love of camping, spending countless weekends unwinding at Tunnel Mountain, and his hilarious yet dreadful impression of Jean Chretien. Gord is survived by his lifelong partner, Glenna Ross of Calgary, AB, his daughter Samantha of Calgary, AB, and his son Scott (Aleisha) of Edmonton, AB. Additionally, Gord leaves behind his brother Don (Dani) Barrington, his niece Lindsey, and numerous cousins and friends. Funeral Services will take place at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on August 18, 2023, at 2:00 pm, with a reception following at the Funeral Home’s Hospitality Center. Stewart Gordon Barrington, known affectionately as Gord, passed away in Calgary, AB on July 16, 2023. At the age of 71, he was a cherished father to both Scott and Samantha. Born in Arvida, QB in 1952, Gord later moved to Calgary, AB in 1976 after completing his engineering degree at Queens University. Throughout his life, Gord accomplished many things, but his volunteer work with the Stampede and his time as a scuba diving instructor at Lake Minnewanka held a special place in his heart. He found joy in skiing, camping, country music, and exploring various destinations around the world. Countless weekends were spent camping and relaxing at Tunnel Mountain, where Gord could be heard attempting his famously terrible Jean Chretien impression. Survived by his life partner Glenna Ross, his daughter Samantha, and his son Scott (Aleisha), Gord also leaves behind his brother Don (Dani) Barrington, his niece Lindsey, as well as numerous cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at McInnis & Holloway in Calgary, AB on August 18, 2023, with a reception to follow at the Funeral Home’s Hospitality Center. A man of many talents and achievements, Gord took immense pride in his volunteer work at the Stampede and his role as an instructor for new scuba divers at Lake Minnewanka. His passion for skiing, camping, country music, and globetrotting led him on unforgettable adventures around the world. Gord had a special fondness for camping, spending countless weekends basking in the serenity of Tunnel Mountain, and providing endless entertainment with his notoriously terrible Jean Chretien impersonation. Gord is survived by his life partner Glenna Ross of Calgary, AB, his daughter Samantha of Calgary, AB, and his son Scott (Aleisha) of Edmonton, AB. In addition, he leaves behind his brother Don (Dani) Barrington, his niece Lindsey, along with numerous cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held at McInnis & Holloway’s Fish Creek location in Calgary, AB on August 18, 2023, at 2:00 pm.
