Terry POILE

Terry Walter Poile passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 27, 2023, at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jo-Ann. Terry is survived by his daughter Melinda, affectionately known as “Mindy,” his son Craig, their mother Barbara, and his brother Robin.

Born in Chatham, Ontario, Terry later moved to the Kingston area in the late 1960s. He made significant contributions to the local community through his life insurance agency. Terry was actively involved in various sports and social circles, including the Kingston Yacht Club and Frontenac Hunt. During the summers, he enjoyed spending time in Erieau, Ontario, where his family owned a cottage and were part of the vibrant yacht club community. Throughout his life, Terry had a deep passion for sports such as skiing, sailing, tennis, horseback riding, swimming, and even a bit of golf. Additionally, he had a keen interest in travel, culinary delights, and libations.

Apart from his pursuits in the country, Terry was a devoted and dedicated caregiver for Jo-Ann during her health struggles. Known as the life of the party, Terry possessed a remarkable ability to establish immediate and lasting connections with everyone he encountered. His vibrant personality and zest for life left an indelible impression on all who knew him.

In accordance with Terry’s wishes, cremation has already taken place, and there will be no Memorial Service. Instead, it is encouraged to raise a glass in his honor and bid farewell in the way Terry always did—Cheers!
