Valerie Catherine Vicq

Valerie, a devoted and loving family woman, passed away on August 12, 2023, at the age of 75. Originally from the prairies, Valerie spent the final years of her life in North Vancouver, moving there to be closer to her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. However, her roots were firmly grounded in Saskatchewan, where she was born and raised in Regina. Valerie dedicated her career to nursing, spending the majority of her professional life at the Grey Nuns (now Pasqua) Hospital. Initially working in the Emergency Department, she later became an Assistant Director of Nursing. Valerie furthered her career at the General Hospital, but when her mother’s health declined, she took early retirement to care for her until her final days. Valerie’s selfless sacrifice for her loved ones came as no surprise to those who knew her, as family and friends were always at the center of her life. Her unwavering devotion and extraordinary love for her family were truly remarkable, and she found immense joy in supporting and celebrating their milestones.

Aside from her family, Valerie also enjoyed indulging in a few hobbies. Traveling, gardening, angels, cooking with her sister, and dance were all activities she cherished. Flamenco, in particular, became a passion for Valerie, leading her to join a local group where she practiced and performed around the Regina area for many years. Valerie’s kind and honorable nature, coupled with her warmth, grace, and strength, left a lasting impact on those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Valerie leaves behind cherished memories for many, and her absence will be deeply felt. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Bruce Vicq, parents Fred and Vivian Rodatz, sister Virginia, and brother-in-law Doug. Additionally, Valerie was preceded in death by sisters-in-law Carol, Patricia, and Joanne, as well as brothers-in-law Jack, Ian, and John. She will always be lovingly remembered by her son Jeffrey (Alexandra), her grandchildren Rafael and Odessa, sisters-in-law Louise and Barb, brother-in-law Barrie, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection Roman Catholic Parish in Regina, SK, followed by a reception in the church hall. In memory of Valerie, donations can be made to the Sisters of the Precious Blood or Resurrection Roman Catholic Parish.

Valerie’s family extends sincere gratitude to all those who supported and assisted her throughout her life. Your kindness and help have been deeply appreciated. May God bless you. To offer condolences online, please visit http://www.speersfuneralchapel.com.
