Vera Demers

In Loving Memory of Vera Demers, nee (Possigian), we sadly announce the passing of our beloved mother on September 27th, 2023. Vera was born in Brantford, Ontario in 1922, as a first-generation Canadian of Armenian heritage. She married Armand Demers in 1944 and together they moved to Timmins after the war, where they raised their four children: Diane Caron (Paul), Denise Rogers, Michael, and Elizabeth Liboiron (Garry). Vera was a cherished member of the Demers family and was adored by all who knew her.

Throughout her life, Vera worked as an assistant manager at Sally Shops and enjoyed her role immensely. In her spare time, she had various passions, including traveling, cooking, reading, playing cards, and spending quality time with her family. Vera was also a dedicated sports fan, avidly following the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs. Her culinary skills were renowned, with her rice pilaf being a staple at family gatherings.

Vera’s presence touched the lives of many, and her loss will be deeply mourned by her four children, eight grandchildren – Leeann, Jason, Vanessa, Emilia, Stephan, Melissa, Amy, and Eric – as well as her ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She will also be dearly missed by her nephews and nieces in Michigan. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the LaSalle Retirement Home for their exceptional care, as well as the doctors and nurses at Timmins Hospital. We would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Cohen for his unwavering dedication and kindness over the years. A celebration of life will be held in remembrance of Vera at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stinson Funeral Home, South Porcupine, ON.
