Victor ONG

Victor Chin Guan ONG, 79, passed away peacefully in a hospital in Saskatoon on Friday, August 25, 2023. Originally from Teluk Intan, Malaysia, Victor displayed academic excellence from a young age. He pursued his passion for mining engineering and obtained his degree from the University of Formosa in Taiwan. In 1968, Victor made the bold decision to leave behind the family business and immigrate to Canada with only a few dollars in his pocket. He enrolled in Engineering at McGill University, where he met and married the love of his life, Jenny. Despite facing financial challenges, Victor’s determination and hard work allowed him to support his family and pursue further studies. They eventually settled in Saskatoon, where Victor established a reputation as a dedicated and reliable professional within the Potash Corp, making many cherished memories with his colleagues and friends.

Throughout his life, Victor cherished his bond with Jenny, who lovingly cared for him by preparing daily meals and accompanying him on long drives. Together, they created lasting memories by embarking on numerous camping trips across Canada and the United States. Victor appreciated life’s simple pleasures and found joy in music, particularly his beloved vinyl collection and karaoke sessions with Jenny. As their sons grew up, got married, and started families of their own, Victor and Jenny embraced their roles as doting grandparents. Victor adored his grandchildren and relished in playing Lego, reading stories, and witnessing their little performances. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren Samuel, Katie Jane, Maddox, and Kherington, all of whom will deeply miss him.

Victor’s sons, William and Jamie, will forever cherish their father’s generosity, wise counsel, cautionary advice, and unconditional love. They reminisce about his healthy appetite and his unwavering support. Throughout their 54 years of marriage, Jenny remained Victor’s anchor and source of love and companionship. The couple’s journey was marked by a strong bond and an enduring love that carried them through the ups and downs of life. As Victor’s chapter comes to a close, he and Jenny conclude it just as they began – together.

Arrangements for Victor’s farewell are being handled by Mourning Glory-Acadia McKague’s Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Make a Wish Foundation in honor of his granddaughter, Kherington. Victor Chin Guan ONG will forever be remembered, dearly missed, and treasured by his loved ones.
