Walter John Kutnikoff

The family sadly announces the passing of Walter John Kutnikoff on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 88 years. Walter was born August 17, 1935, in Rosthern, SK. He was raised and attended school in Blaine Lake, SK. After high school, he attended Teachers College at the University of Saskatchewan. He eventually completed his B.Ed while taking night classes and summer classes. He started his teaching career in 1957 at Laird, SK, and he retired in 1988 at Yellow Creek, SK. Walter was an amazing teacher of over 40 years, a bus driver for the school, a life insurance salesman, a successful farmer for over five decades, and an amazing artist. For 40 years, Walter was a passionate school teacher, shaping the minds of generations of students. His classroom was a place of enlightenment, where he ignited a love for learning. After retirement for many years, he served as a substitute teacher, offering his knowledge and wisdom to generations of students. In addition to his teaching career, Walter wore many hats in his life. Walter was also a farmer for five decades on the family farm in Blaine Lake, SK. In his role as a life insurance salesperson with Sovereign Life, he offered financial security and peace of mind to countless families. His love for coffee was well-known where he connected with old friends and made new ones. The local coffee shop Country Cross Roads was a place of comfort and visiting. His dedication to his work exemplified his commitment to being so successful. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Kutnikoff of 61 years of Wakaw, SK; daughter, Connie Lee (Vince) Brittain and their sons Merit and Merik of Prince Albert, SK; sons, Curtis (Laurie) Kutnikoff of Saskatoon, SK; and Trever (Tammy) Kutnikoff and their daughters Tayah and Taliya of St. Louis, SK. Walter will be sadly missed and fondly remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandparent, and treasured friend. Walter was predeceased by his son, Murray Kutnikoff; parents, John and Mabel Kutnikoff; and his brothers, Edward Kutnikoff and Lionel Kershaw. Rest in peace, dear Walter John Kutnikoff, and thank you for enriching our lives with your love, wisdom, and the brilliance that defined you. We will definitely miss you! The prayer service will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday November 3, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Funeral Home (210 Wess Road).
