William OTT

William (Bill) Ott, a resident of North Vancouver, British Columbia, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2023, at the age of 96. He was born in Wasserau, Ukraine, on August 23, 1926, and immigrated to Canada in 1952 alongside his brother Hans. After settling in Vancouver, he met his wife Karin and became a Canadian citizen in 1976. Bill worked as an electrician with BC Hydro for many years until his retirement in 1995. Throughout his life, he remained dedicated to his family and his home, engaging in various projects and enjoying activities such as reading, gardening, and following local sports teams.

Bill will be fondly remembered as a quiet, hard-working, and selfless man who took great pride in his family. Together with his brother, he involved himself in the construction and renovation of their family homes. Even in his early 90s, Bill continued to undertake improvement projects, much to the concern of his loved ones. He also had a love for reading, tending to his garden, and staying updated with the news. Bill and Karin were passionate dog owners, often seen walking their loyal German Shepherd, Jada, through the neighborhood and nearby trails. He also found immense joy in supporting his children and grandchildren’s endeavors, attending their soccer and hockey games.

Despite his final months of declining health, Bill was grateful for the long and healthy life he had lived. He cherished the time spent with Karin and Jada in their home. The family expresses their gratitude to their neighbors, home care staff, and the dedicated personnel at Inglewood Care Centre for their kindness and care during this challenging time. A private celebration of Bill’s life will be held with immediate family.

To offer condolences, the family welcomes visitors to leave messages on the website of McKenzie Funeral Services (www.mckenziefuneralservices.com).
