William WILSON

William Johnstone Wilson, a resident of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away on July 20, 2023, at the age of 82. He was born on October 6, 1940, to Gordon and Lilja Wilson. After completing his M.A. in English at the University of Manitoba, Bill Wilson pursued a career in academia. He taught English Literature at Mount Royal College in Calgary and Columbia College in Vancouver, where he eventually became Head of the Department.

Aside from his passion for literature and teaching, music held a special place in Bill’s heart. He had an affinity for Classical, Jazz, and Beatles music. Traveling was another great love of his life, especially to Europe. In 1978, he fulfilled a long-standing dream by taking his three young daughters on a three-month trip across Europe. Later, he enjoyed doing the same with his son. Bill also enjoyed playing golf and curling, actively engaging in these sports.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the Shaughnessy United Church hall in Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests any donations to be made to Doctors Without Borders or the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
