CARTER, A. Wilma

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing away of Wilma at the age of 86, after a long battle with Myotonic Dystrophy, at home with family at her side. She is survived by her beloved husband John. Loving mother of sons Peter (Luz), Will (Bonnie) and daughter Anne (Stuart). She also leaves behind her dear grandchildren Stephanie, Esteban (Marlene), Nick (Janice), Hannah (Joël), Josh (Cassie), Jesse and Kolya. Wilma is also survived by her sister Connie (Tom) and sister-in-law Rena. She was predeceased by her siblings Thelma, Audrey, Elva, Joey, Morris, and Lee. Wilma will also be missed by her great-grandchildren Carmen-Victoria, Lily, Eden-Emmanuel and Santiago.

Wilma was born in Silver Creek, about 10 kilometres outside of Buckingham, Quebec to Frank and Pearl Roy. After Wilma and John were married, they lived in five countries abroad with John’s work at Foreign Affairs. Wilma had many friends and she was never shy to speak to anyone around her. Wilma’s greatest achievement was to be married to the man she loved for 66 years!

Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Arlington Woods Methodist Church, 225 McClellan Rd. Nepean, on February 5, 2024 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Myotonic Dystrophy Canada. Private family interment to take place at a later date.
