The passing of Yvon Jobin on August 22, 2023, at the age of 63, is announced with deep sorrow by his family. Yvon was a beloved husband to Dina Makuz-Jobin and a loving father to Cory Jobin, Shelley-Ann Jobin, and Krista McCooeye, all residing in Timmins. He was a cherished grandfather to Dannick Morrison, Leelan Morrison, Tory Moyle, Lennox Rouzes, and a great grandfather to Camilla Morrison. Yvon will be greatly missed by his siblings Jo-Anne Gagnon, Rachel Boutin, Clement Jobin, and Michel Jobin, as well as his sister-in-law Caterina Persiani and his brother-in-law Alex Makuz. He also left behind numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Yvon’s parents Dorothy and Joseph Jobin, his sister Noella Jobin, and his parents-in-law Sarafina and Stefano Makuz preceded him in death.

Yvon will be remembered as a sociable and approachable individual, always ready to strike up a conversation with anyone. His infectious laughter had the ability to brighten up any room he entered. Yvon had a great passion for both Elvis and country music and was known for his exceptional cooking skills. Throughout his life, he pursued various careers, with cooking being his true calling. He served as a chef at his own establishments, the Senator, the Hollinger Golf Club, and the Kamiskotia Ski Hill. Additionally, he offered his expertise as a consultant in the local hospitality industry. Yvon was actively involved in his community, dedicating his time to volunteer work with the Anti-Hunger Coalition and serving as a longstanding member and eventually the president of the Lions Club. Although his presence will be dearly missed, Yvon’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

A funeral service in memory of Yvon Jobin will take place at 1 p.m. on August 26, 2023, at St-Anthony’s Cathedral. The family kindly requests any remembrance donations to be directed towards Diabetes Canada or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, located at 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
